We took off from Jeff’s house as I forgot my camera there.
When we left this morning the sky opened up. Rain to Ventura, Rain in Santa Barbara, Rain in Solvang. All of the beautiful scenery looked like ghosts in the distance. Didn’t stop Dave from loading up with gifts for Kathy in Solvang. We toured the Santa Inez mission and thought how different things were when the Padres ran the mission for the Indians and traveling Spanish travelers.
We hit clearing weather as we drove toward Vandenberg AFB where Dave had been stationed 43 years ago. We tried to get on the base but no luck. Then we headed to Santa Maria and lo and behold we found the apartment where Dave lived 43 years ago.
We then headed up the coast on highway 1 and arrived at our hotel in Morro Bay. After a short rest we, we had fresh fish and chips on the beach, enjoyed the Morro Rock and the sunset. Great second day. Many memories brought back for David. Tomorrow a 575 mile day.
