We left home on Thursday, June, 11, 2015 and as usual drove down to Van Nuys Fly Away and hopped on the bus for for LAX. Rotten traffic on the 405 free way and got there with only an hour to spare. Easy check in but our airline Sun Country changed the gate without telling us but we found out when just as they were boarding.
Smooth flight. My GPS stopped working and it was fun to find our hotel but, we did. Slept well after a meal at TGIF in the Mall of America.
Got to bed by midnight and slept till 9 a.m.. Average breakfast only at Hampton Inn but great service. Very small room. We headed off to the University of Minnesota area to see Williams Arena the famous old basketball site for the Golden Gophers. We hit it lucky and a young student assistant opened up the arena for us and even put on the lights. Minnesota nice.
We walked through the frat area’s and were impressed how beautiful the U area were kept. Ended up in Dinky Town and ate at Annie’s Parlor. Talk about bring back memories. I was last there in 1963 during its heyday of jazz joins for the college students.
Headed back to the hotel…traffic on the 35 freeway as bad as LA. Nap and finally getting ready for dinner at Mall of American.
Ate at a the fanciest restaurant in the Mall of America, Crave. $17.00 for a beef bowl. Won’t be back.
All is well.
